How to clone VM on VMware Esxi server

1.Enable SSH from the vSphere Web Client

By default, remote command execution is disabled on an ESXi host, and you cannot log in to the host by using a remote shell. You can enable remote command execution from the direct console or from the vSphere Web Client. 

Procedure

1	Select the host, click Manage, and keep Settings selected.
2	Click Security Profile.
3	In the Services section, click Edit.
4	Select SSH.  ■ To temporarily start or stop the service, click the Start or Stop button.  ■ To change the Startup policy across reboots, select Start and stop with host and reboot the host.

2.Logon to Exsi server through SSH

3.cd /vmfs/volumes/[datastore]

4.cp -af [sourceVM]  [destVM]

How to upload virtual machines to VMware ESXI server from Mac VMware Fusion

其實很簡單，現在vmware fusion 本身已經支援這個功能，只要按照下列步驟執行即可

1) 現連線到你要匯入的vmare ESXI Server

   #點選 File > Connect to Server

   #輸入要連線的帳號密碼

2)連線後，就可以發現你要連線的server 出現在你的vmware funsion 上面

3)把你要匯出的VM 關機

4)在vm處，按右鍵，就可以看出功能選單有一個上傳選項，直接點選上傳，他就會接者跳出你要匯入的位置讓你選者

 

 

注意事項：要是遇到顯示版本不相容時，可以考慮去編輯vm檔案，把vm的硬體版本降級，通常這樣就可以解決問題

Parallels 如何匯入ovf格式的虛擬作業系統

今天從VMWare 上面下載了vCenter Appliance想說要來玩一下vCenter，不過發現竟然無法直接匯入ovf的格式，只支援*.vmx

上網搜尋一下才發現可以透過VMware本身出的ovf tool把它轉成.vmx格式，這樣就可以直接使用了

＃/Volumes/MacintoshHD/VM OS/VMware-vCenter-Server-Appliance-5.1.0.5300-947940_OVF10.ovf  vCenter.vmx

等待轉換完成後，在使用匯入作業系統方式，你就會發現已經可以選擇了

 

vCenter Appliance 安裝(.ovf)

1.先上vmware網站下載 下列四個檔案，併放在同一個目錄下

    1)VMware-vCenter-Server-Appliance-5.1.xxxx_OVF10.ovf

     2)VMware-vCenter-Server-Appliance-5.1.xxxx_OVF10.ova

     3)VMware-vCenter-Server-Apppliance-5.1.xxx-system.vmdk

    4)VMware-vCenter-Server-Apppliance-5.1.xxx-data.vmdk

 

2.使用vSphere client 連到要安裝的ESXi Server上面

3.選擇deployment ovf template

4.安裝完成後，啟動vCenter Appliance，如果遇到宣稱不能使用share memory的話，就是從新到config內調整ram大小，給他一個固定的大小即可

5.開啟browser: 輸入：http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:5480

  預設的user name : root

  預設的password:  vmware

 

 

    

VMware vSphere Client in Parallels 7 問題

[Update] 升級到Paralles 9之後，發現release iput已經變得不可以更改，找了一下，在Paralles KB中有寫，現在要從Mac本身的設定去設定，

由於VMware vSphere client 沒有Mac版本，基於工作使用需要，所以只好透過Parellels 安裝windows作業系統

在安裝vSphere Client，可是經常發現，開啟vSphere後，會變成所有的按鍵都不能按，整個系統只能在重新開啟

windows後，才可以在正常使用vSphere client，最近才發現到，原因是Vsphere Client也是使用相同的"Ctrl+Alt"

快速組合鍵去從vmware vSphere client console釋放，跟Parallels release windows program一樣，最鍵單的解法

就是把Parallels的快捷組合鍵更改，從Parallels->Preferences -->Keyboard，更改釋放輸入 （release input)更改成

其他的按鍵組合，例如多加上一個cmd即可

當要把vSphere guest OS 開機時，如果遇到以下的錯誤訊息時，可以嘗試增加一個參數來解決這個問題 問題： You are running VMware Player via an incompatible hypervisor.  You may not power on a virtual machine until this hypervisor is disabled." 解法：增加下列的參數 vmx.allowNested = "TRUE"

如何開啟vmware ESXi Server的ssh console

1.How to open VMware ESXi with ssh console support

Ans:By default this isn’t possible. But there’s a way to get this working,

just do the following:

1)Go to the ESXi console and press alt+F1

2)Type: unsupported

3)Enter the root password

4)At the prompt type “vi /etc/inetd.conf”

5)Look for the line that starts with “#ssh” (you can search with pressing

“/”)

6)Remove the “#” (press the “x” if the cursor is on the character)

Save “/etc/inetd.conf” by typing “:wq!”

7)Restart the management service “/sbin/services.sh restart”

8)restart inetd

2.如何更改系統ssid

3.VMware 如果是用copy 或 snap開機後要 記得更改 MAC Address，作法為把

/etc/sysconfig/network-script/ifcfg-eth0 裡面的 MAC Address拿掉

再重新啟動 /etc/init.d/network restart 即可
